Double Trouble, as Man declared wanted over IPOB Membership, After rejecting Chief Priest Offer
One suspect that allegedly led a protest that led to the death of seven people in Uwana Community, Afikpo North Local government Area of Ebonyi State, Onochie Inya Marvel has been declared wanted by security operatives.
Onochie was accused to be leader and coordinator of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Uwana Community, Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Onochie Inya Marvel had earlier ran away from his community to avoid cult initiation that will make him become the Chief Priest of the community.
Marvel, however may have run away to unknown destination, as of the time of this report as a result of the perceived double trouble trailing him.
According to our correspondent, trouble started for Onochie Marvel shortly after the death of his father, Late Chief Onochie Inya, who was the Chief Priest of the Uwana Community.
It was gathered that Mr. Onochie Marvel was approached by the elders of Uwana Community, shortly after the burial of his father to inform him that he’s in next in line to be the next Chief Priest of the community, to succeed his father.
Source said Onochie Marvel, who’s a Christian was displeased with the development and told the elders that he’s a Christian, hence he can’t accept the offer.
It was gathered that the elders saw Onochie Marvel’s rejection of the offer as an abomination and a big slap on the culture of the community.
Our correspondent reported that the elders of the community were said to have made several efforts to initiate him and install him in his father stead, as the Chief priest of the community, but all to no avail.
It was gathered that when Onochie Marvel could no longer withstand the pressure of the elders, he ran away to the neighboring community to stay with one of his friends there.
Few days later, people in Uwana Community was said to have gotten hint of his whereabouts and came to forcefully take him for initiation, but Marvel managed to escape on the fateful day.
About two days later, source disclosed that Onochie fought with one of the elders of Uwana community who was making attempt to lure him back to Uwana Community where he would be initiated and install as the Chief Priest of the gods of the community.
The fight, according to source, led to the arrest of Onochie Marvel by security operatives, but at the station, the security operatives discovered that Onochie Marvel still have case to answer as the suspected leader and coordinator of IPOB in Uwana community that led the protest that led to the death of seven people.
It was gathered that Marvel was locked up in the cell, but a Good Samaritan reportedly helped him out of the cell after which he immediately ran away from the community.
Meanwhile, authority of the security operatives last week declared Onochie Marvel wanted in a publication over IPOB related activities.
The Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), it would be recalled was proscribed as a terrorist Organisation sometimes ago by the Nigeria government. The celebrated leader of the Organisation, Nnamdi Kanu and other regional leader of the group are also currently on the government and security operative watch list.
