By Ranmilowo Ojalumo

The Executive Secretary of the National Association of Road Transport Owners, Mr. Aloga Ogbogo has called on the Nigerian government to stop paying lip service to the myriad of challenges bedeviling the transportation sector, saying the nation economy will continue to make huge loss unless the government does the needful.

Executive Secretary, NARTO Aloga Ogbogo

While speaking during a phone conversation with Haulage & Logistics Magazine recently, Ogbogo lamented the insensitivity of the government toward the bad roads in the country and many other challenges facing transport business, insisting that the government knows what to do but have only refuse to do.

Ogbogo decried the bad state of the roads across the country, saying the dilapidated roads are damaging the trucks and causing a lot of accident, leading to huge loss. He urged the government to pay more and sincere attention to road construction and repair in the country, saying such gesture will serve as a big boost to the economy.

While commenting on the lingering Apapa gridlock, the NARTO scribe said unless the shipping liners have a specious holding each to accommodate empty containers, the gridlock in Apapa will persist.

He therefore urged the government to direct all shipping lines in the country to have not just a holding bay but a spacious one that can accommodate as many empty containers as possible to ensure that trucks are not littering the street of Apapa and environ.
