NOA CHARGES EDO RESIDENTS, TRADERS TO ESCHEW ELECTORAL VIOLENCE

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has cautioned residents and traders in Edo State against vote buying by politicians.
The agency also tasked residents to eschew acts capable of promoting violence before, during and after the general election scheduled for February 16th.
NOA Director in the state, Mrs Grace Eseka Ewere, gave the warning during a road walk towards a peaceful and violence free 2019 general elections in the State.
The NOA boss accompanied by members of the agency visited several market places and major streets in Benin City , where she urged the electorate to come out and  vote candidates of their choice as well as avoid violence before, during and after the election.
“Once you collect any amount from them and vote them into power, you have sold your conscience and trade the future of your children for the next four years.
“The general election  scheduled for Saturday February 16th must be  peaceful and successful elections,” Ewere said.
She advised voters to ensure that their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) are properly accredited before going to vote for candidate of their choice.
Ewere charged voters particularly market women to properly study the ballot papers before thumb printing to avoid voiding the votes.
According to NOA boss, only 26 political parties will be participating in  the State House of Assembly and National Assembly elections in the state on 16th of February.
