Following a massive raid of black spots and criminal hideouts in upper Sakponba road and environs in Benin city, Edo state , 45 suspected cultists have been arrested by men of the Edo state Police command.
This followed a joint move by the various police tactical teams and the area command of the Edo state Police command. The suspected hoodlums alleged to be terrorizing most parts of Benin city were smoked out by the police in their hideouts.
The Edo State Police command paraded the suspects in Benin on Friday. Some charms, arms and ammunition including secret cult paraphernalias were recovered from them.
However, the raid continues as the police has vowed to make upper Sakponba a safe haven ahead of the General election. A decoy security patrol have also been put in place with a view to combing the area against any further killing by rival cult group.
