Election Violence: police arrest 1, as Man Declared Wanted in Ogun

the police arrested a voter who was accused of attempting to snatch the election ballot box during the presidential election held on February 25, 2019, across the country.

He was arrested in Abeokuta Ogun State South-West Nigeria, and handed over to DSS for prosecution, but one of his alleged collaborators, who was identified as Olofu John Amu managed to escape.

The incident happened at Ward 5, unit 15 at Ijem, Odo Oba, Abeokuta South in Ogun State.

Our correspondent reported that crisis broke out at the polling booth and the election was disrupted when some men started violently expressing their grievance over an attempt to rig out their candidate, but a female officer of the Nigeria Police Force foiled the attempt to snatch the ballot box.

Meanwhile, one Olofu John Amu and others who were said to have been involved in the violent expression of grievances that disrupted the election are currently on the wanted list of security operatives for probable arrest and prosecution on the order of President Buhari.

In the buildup to the election, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari had said anyone who attempts to snatch ballot boxes does so at the risk of their lives.
