Our community is in danger, Ijaw Nation of Niger Delta cries out
Apeals to Chevron, NEMA, International observers for relief materials

Following the continuous gaseous emission of carbon-monoxide and other harmful substances by the operation of Chevron Nigeria Limited, the Ijaw Nation of the Niger Delta region of Polobubou has called for urgent action to save lives of the people.

Speaking at a press conference in Benin City, the Edo state capital on Thursday, the Community also insisted that the multi-billion dollar organisation must live up to it social corporate responsibility.
Addressing newsmen on behalf of kpalakpalabou community, Comrade Marvis Ofiyai, said since oil well 1 was gutted by fire, the inhabitants of the community have been exposed to serious environmental disaster threatening the lives of the people.
He said: We of the polobubou(Tsekelewu community) indigenes observed that gaseous emission, carbon monoxide have taken over the entire community since the fire outbreak of kpalakpalabou well1, this genocide has led to the lost of our animals, fishes, foods crops,lifes and other valuables”.
” These have forced our people to relocate to neighbouring community for safety. There is already unknown sickness ravaging the community as at today. We are using this opportunity to call the attention of the Federal government. State government, international observers and other agencies to come to our rescue”.
“We call on Chevron, National Emergency Management Agency, federal government and International observers to provide relief materials such as drugs food,shelter and provision of pipe borne water from the Opuekebe platform to Opuama, Tsekelewu, dredge Tsekelewu communities.
They warned that all the issues raised must be looked into to fallstall any incident that may jeopardize production in the area.
