A 37-year-old man, identified as Destiny Nosakhare Igbinosun may have disappeared to unknown destination after he reportedly escaped from the grip of some armed men suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
According to sources, Igbinosun, who is a father of six, was a driver who lives from hand to mouth with his family in Lagos, until a friend introduced him to a woman, identified as Precious Amaka, who eventually employed him as her personal chauffeur in 2019.
Sources relayed that Igbinosun did not know that his new boss was an active member of IPOB until he relocated to Imo State with her.
A Source said Amaka was not just a member of the group but also with closed affinity with the various unit heads of the group, including its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
It was gathered that Igbinosun only got to know about the personality of his boss on one of the occasions when he drove Amaka to a venue where the group had their meeting.
Things however took a new toll when he was being pressurised to join the group since he was an indigene of a community in Edo State that is not far from the eastern part of the country.
Sources said Destiny Nosakhare Igbinosun eventually resigned from his job when he couldn’t absolve the pressures being mounted on him to become an active member of the group.
It was gathered that after quitting his job, some suspected members of the group eventually attacked his family, a development that led to the death of his parent and his two brothers.
Sources said Igbinosun was allegedly kidnapped later by suspected members of the group and kept him a custody for months until he eventually escaped.
It was gathered that Igbinosun initially proposed to report the matter to the police but later changed his mind with the thought that he is not safe in any police state in the east, because suspected members of the group have attacked many police stations in the eastern part of the country.
The source said since Igbinosun discarded the thought of running to police station, he has run away to unknown destination.
According to the source, since the day he escaped from custody and narrated his bitter story and ordeal in the hand of the suspected members of group, he has run away to save his life and nobody could ascertain his whereabouts till date.
Another source said Igbinosun may have travelled out of the country, leaving his wife and children behind in Nigeria.
IPOB, it should be recalled is a notorious group that has been proscribed by the high court in Nigeria as terrorist group.
The known leader of the group, Kanu was arrested by former president Muhammadu Buhari and has since remain in prison till date.
The group has allegedly attacked several police stations and military bases in the Eastern part of the country, allegedly killing many people in the region.
