Crawford University Matriculates 686 students

…As VC warns students against malpractices, indecent dressing 

In furtherance of its academic excellence, Crawford University, Igbesa, Ogun state recently matriculated 686 fresh undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Colleges of Business and Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences and College of Arts and Communication Studies into the university.

While speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, of the university, Professor Reuben Jiya Kolo charged the students to shun examination malpractices and indecent dressing. The VC also urged the students not involve in drug, warning anyone caught in any of the acts risks outright dismissal.

According to the VC, Crawford University is one of the top notch private Universities in Nigeria and the vision behind the establishment of the University is to be a centre of excellence, producing graduates with balanced education and with a robust and life imparting core values of Godliness, intellectualism, integrity, entrepreneurship and community.

He noted that the University has witnessed tremendous patronage over the years owing to the vibrancy of the quality programmes and consistent maintenance of high academic standards by the University, adding that despite the COVID-19 pandemic that bedeviled the whole world since 2019, the University still continue to strive higher academically and coping with COVID-19 Protocols in all ramifications.

He therefore charged the students to be more studious, stressing that the only way to achieve success is through determination, dedication, discipline, patience, sacrifice and above all prayers. He also charged the matriculants to be of good character pointing that education without good character is vanity.

Prof. Kolo said “this University will not condone laziness on the part of the students. Laziness is the root cause of examination malpractices. Good students should not be lazy but must be up and doing. They also do not involve themselves in examination malpractices. The University values its stamp and logo, which are to be inscribed on your certificates after the end of your programmes. As a result, the University would not want to award its certificates to any undeserving student.

“Anyone found guilty of any examination malpractice will be sanctioned. No amount of pleas can change the verdict of the University Senate. Usually, expulsion from the University is the most attractive punishment for examination misconduct. It is important that you spend your time wisely.

“Your new status as student of Crawford University imposes on you greater responsibilities than ever before. You are therefore required to dress decently in line with the University Dress Code at all times, comport yourself both within and outside the University.

“Above all, run away from drugs or anything that is related to it. Any student who is confirmed to be on drugs will be summarily dismissed from the University. You are advised to shun any act that may either destroy your future or bring the university name and that of your parents into disrepute. A word is sufficient for the wise that is ready to learn”.
