SOUTHWEST BUREAUCRATS SHOULD SUSTAIN DIGITAL OPERATIONS, SAYS GOV AKEREDOLU

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has charged South West bureaucrats to continually drive initiatives that accelerates deployment of digital infrastructure in order to enhance economic transformation of the zone.

Governor Akeredolu equally, restated the commitment of his administration to support the growth of public service in Ondo State.

The Governor through his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa gave the charge in his keynote address at the opening ceremony of Southwest Heads of Service Summit held at the International Center for Culture and Events ( THE DOME ) in Akure on Thursday.

At the summit, all Heads of Service and Delegates in the South West zone of the Country and Director General of DAWN Commission, Seye Oyeleye were in attendance and they were charged to be knowledgeable and abreast with global best practices and apply them.

With the theme “Rethinking Civil Service in a Digital World” , Akeredolu congratulated the innovators of the summit which was seen as the road map to the digital impetus for transforming the civil service and sustaining socio-economic activities in the region.

“Full digitalization of civil service activities will make room for smarter, faster, more effective work process and consequently, better service delivery” , he said.

The Governor also asserted that, “the public service must become receptive to global best practices and apply them to enable our people to continue to enjoy dividends of good governance” .

“Technology must be fully deployed to generate more resources, identify and block loopholes and optimize service delivery in our respective bureaucracies in the South West zone” , he said.

The Governor also emphasized that the region needed the effectiveness and efficient public service to keep advancing the cause of South West cohesion and development.

“I must emphasize the need for the re-birth of our zone in the Nigerian equation….we must put our shoulders to the wheel to ensure that the good legacies and vision bequeathed to us by our political forebears are preserved and expanded” , he advised.

In his welcome address, the host who is also Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor ‘Niran Adeyemo MNI, urged public servants not to just be abreast of technological innovations but to also take advantage of the digital knowledge in thinking smart and working smart.

The summit was rounded up with a dinner by the host for the delegates which provided opportunity for interaction and networking.

Others in attendance are, Chief of Staff to Ondo State Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diospora Matters, Mrs Bamidele Olateju, Commissioner of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Deaconess ‘Lola Fagbemi, Commissioner of Women and Social Affairs, Dr ( Mrs ) Julianah Oshadaun, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye, Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Hon Wale Akinlosotu, Special Adviser on Education, Dr ( Mrs ) Olawunmi Ilawole, Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr Dare Aragbaye and others.
