Controller Ibrahim Takes Over at Kebbi Area Command, Promises to Stem Smuggling, Enhance Revenue Generation

The Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has experienced a formal change in leadership as a new Comptroller, Controller Matawalle Ibrahim officially assumed duty as the Customs Area Controller.
According to a statement signed on Tuesday by the command Public Relation Officer, SC Mohammed Tajuddeen Salisu, the handover ceremony took place on Monday, 8th September 2025, at the Command’s Conference Room. It was attended by the Command’s management team, officers and men of the Command, and members of the press.
In his opening remarks, the outgoing Customs Area Controller highlighted key achievements during his tenure. These included surpassing the Command’s revenue target by 13.9% within eight months, introducing a weekly exercise and biweekly medical check-up for personnel, and inaugurating and commissioning the Secretariat of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA).
He expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for the opportunity to serve and lead the Command.
Following the official exchange of leadership, the new Kebbi Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, expressed sincere appreciation to the CGC for entrusting him with the responsibility.
In his inaugural address, Comptroller Ibrahim emphasized core focus areas including discipline, robust anti-smuggling operations, enhanced revenue performance, effective border management, stakeholder engagement and compliance sensitization, as well as personnel welfare and capacity building.
The ceremony concluded with both Comptrollers touring the Command for an official handover, following the signing of the handover notes.
