A Journey of Grace: Prophet I.O. Samuel and Nkoyo Essien-Okafor Celebrate Union in Grand Ceremony

By Our Correspondent

Abuja is set to witness a momentous celebration as renowned cleric, author, and philanthropist, Prophet Ikechukwu Samuel, founder of Shiloh Word Chapel and president of the Samaritan Foundation, and Nkoyo Essien-Okafor, a professional event planner and education advocate, solemnize their union in a grand ceremony themed “Journey of Grace.”

Following the completion of traditional rites in February at their ancestral homelands, the couple will publicly affirm their union on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the prestigious Akwa Ibom House in Abuja.

The event will be a vibrant blend of faith, heritage, and a shared vision for societal transformation.

The traditional rites, held in Akwa Ibom and Anambra, honored the legacies of their parents—Mr. & Mrs. Friday Essien of Ikot Etim Village (Akwa Ibom) and Mr. JCN Okafor & Mrs. Catherine Okafor of Nibo Village (Anambra). The private gatherings featured prayers, cultural exchanges, and symbolic gifts, including heirloom Bibles and handwoven fabrics, reflecting the couple’s deep Christian values.

A Celebration of Love and Purpose

Nkoyo will grace the occasion in an elegant custom ivory lace gown adorned with intricate Ibibio beadwork, while Prophet Samuel will wear a regal white agbada embroidered with gold motifs—a nod to his Anambra heritage. Officiated by esteemed clergy from diverse denominations, the ceremony will highlight their commitment to faith and service.

In their vows, Prophet Samuel will pledge to “walk in love as Christ loved the Church,” while Nkoyo will affirm her role as a partner in purpose and destiny. The choir will lead the congregation in hymns sung in Igbo, Ibibio, and English, creating an atmosphere of divine worship and unity.

Reflecting on his journey of faith and transformation, Prophet Samuel declared, “My past is over. Two can’t walk together except they agree in submission.”

A Legacy of Giving and Impact

On March 30, 2025, the couple will host a Thanksgiving Service at Shiloh Word Chapel, Apo District, Abuja, which will also mark the launch of a major philanthropic initiative. Congregants will have the opportunity to support the Samaritan Foundation’s new vocational training centers for widows in Abuja, Akwa Ibom, and Anambra.

A symbolic “unity candle” will be lit using flames from their hometown churches, underscoring their mission to bridge cultural and spiritual divides.

A Celebration Rooted in Purpose

Guests at both events will experience a seamless fusion of tradition and modernity. The reception menu will feature Akwa Ibom’s Edikang Ikong and Anambra’s Ofe Nsala, while the wedding cake will be a towering masterpiece designed as a stack of Prophet Samuel’s bestselling books, including Blessing Reloaded, The Power of One, and Teamwork.

In a heartfelt gesture, the couple has opted to redirect ostentatious wedding spending toward charity, announcing a surprise donation to fund STEM scholarships for girls in rural communities.

While dignitaries from Nigeria’s political, religious, and business spheres will be in attendance, the focus remains on the couple’s divine assignment. “This marriage is a covenant of grace, faith, and service,” Prophet Samuel stated. Nkoyo added, “Our joy is found in lifting others and fulfilling our God-given purpose together.”

As the couple embarks on this Journey of Grace, their ministries and humanitarian efforts prepare for a new era of impact, inspiring many to walk in faith, love, and service.
