International Women’s Day: Orji Uzor Kalu Celebrates Nigerian Women, Pays Tribute to Mother, Wife

Former governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has paid glowing tribute to women for their contributions to families, communities and national development as the world marks International Women’s Day.
In a message shared on his social media platforms, Kalu celebrated the resilience, strength and compassion of women, noting that their roles remain crucial to societal progress.
The former governor particularly paid tribute to his late mother, describing her as a guiding force whose sacrifices and prayers helped shape his life.
“On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I celebrate the remarkable women who continue to shape our families, communities and nation with strength, wisdom and compassion,” he wrote.
Kalu also acknowledged the support of his wife and daughters, saying their love and resilience continue to inspire him.
“I pay special tribute to my beloved mother, whose prayers, sacrifices and guidance laid the foundation of my life. I also celebrate my dear wife and daughters, whose love, resilience and support remain a constant source of inspiration to me,” he said.
The senator further commended the hardworking women of Abia North Senatorial District and the resilient women across Abia State for their invaluable contributions to homes, businesses, public service and national development.
According to him, the courage and determination displayed by Nigerian women continue to drive progress in society.
Kalu also called for renewed commitment towards empowering women and promoting gender equality, stressing the need to create opportunities that will enable women and girls to achieve their full potential.
“Let us renew our collective commitment to empowering women, promoting equality and creating opportunities that will enable every woman and girl to realise her full potential,” he added.
He congratulated mothers, wives, sisters and daughters across the country on the occasion, noting that their strength lights the path for a better tomorrow.
The former governor concluded his message with his signature slogan, “Keep Hope Alive.”
