Okpebholo inagurate buses for school monitoring

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo state has inaugurated buses to be deployed for the effective monitoring of junior secondary schools across the state.

Represented by his deputy, Hon Dennis Idahosa in the event that took place at New Era College in Benin, the governor also flagged off the distribution of teaching and learning materials across the state.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor, Mr Friday Aghedo, the governor pointed out that all these are grated towards educational development of the state.

He noted that the buses, as well as the learning and teaching materials
would improve the quality of education in Edo state.

Okpebholo commended the collaborative efforts of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), which gave birth to the
distribution of back to school kits packages.

He appeared that the materials, which includes text books, note books, sports equipment such as footballs, Jerseys; and, school bags and sandals, should be put into good use.

He commended the commitment of the SUBEB chairman, Sonia Ebanehita, to be unliftment of the education sector.

“We also appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making education a priority of his administration.

“The President’s recognised the fact that when you give quality education to our pupils, it is an opportunity to develop the children to be greater leaders of tomorrow,” he stated.

The governor explained that because of the priority his administration also placed on education, no fewer than 5009 teachers have been employed in less than two years.

While noting that teachers welfare have also been prioritised by his administration, he said a lot of grounds have been covered in the sector since his assumption of office.

“It is in appreciation of this that our government got recognized by the New Telegraph as the Governor of the year in Education in 2025,” he noted.
