How Kalu, others changed my view of APC, Says Canadian-Based Nigerian

By Rubby Ogbonna. -A Nigerian in Canada, Bashorun O. Adegbulugbe, says his view of the All Progressives Congress APC has changed over time after watching some members of the party closely.
Speaking in a statement on July 17, 2026, Adegbulugbe said he once believed the APC was made up only of “demons, evil and bad politicians.”
“My opinion was based on the actions of people like Nyesom Wike, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Engr. David Umahi and Hope Uzodinma,” he said.
But according to him, that impression began to shift after he observed the work of other APC members. He mentioned the Central Bank Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, Minister of Information, Idris Malagi, and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
“I interacted with Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and listened to the Minister of Information, Idris Malagi. I also saw the good works of Olayemi Cardoso and Olawale Edun,” Adegbulugbe said.
He admitted that the party still has its problems.
“In APC, while we have treasury looters, executive womanisers, fraudsters, pen robbers, political idol worshippers, arrogant and incompetent governors and ministers, we have equally seen people working very hard to improve the economy and nation builders determined to unite Nigerians,” he said.
Adegbulugbe argued that no political party is made up of only good or only bad people.
“The world is not divided into good and bad people. We are all capable of good and bad and it is a choice we make. APC is not a political party of demons and NDC is not a political party of angels. We have good and bad people in APC, LP, PDP, ADC, etc. This is a fact we must take home,” he said.
He said Nigeria needs more public officials like Cardoso, Edun, Malagi and Kalu.
“These are men working behind the scene to improve the image of this government through benefits delivery for the common man. These are not noise makers or attention seekers,” he added.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Adegbulugbe advised President Bola Tinubu on the kind of people he should surround himself with if re-elected.
“In the likely event that President Tinubu is re-elected for a second term, Tinubu must distance himself from people like Wike, Uzodinma, Umahi and Akpabio.
“These people did not make Bola Tinubu. Bola Tinubu made them what they are today and he must not allow them destroy him or his Government,” he said.
He ended his statement by commending some APC members.
“Well done Senator OUK, Idris Malagi and Cardoso. I wish Wale Edun a happy and peaceful retirement,” Adegbulugbe said.
