Stakeholders Commend Apapa Customs Command Over Port Security
Stakeholders in Apapa Port Lagos have hailed Comptroller Yusuf Malanta, the Nigerian Customs Area Controller Apapa Customs Command, for restoring sanity, as peace and order has been brought to bear at the premier Port for business to thrive.
According to some clearing agent/ Freight Forwarders who spoke to our Correspondents at the port, the day of delays in examination and false declaration, extortion and bringing in prohibited items are over.
A clearing agent, Mr Patrick Offodile, stated that the professional expertise brought to bear on the command by the Present Enforcement officer, DC Musa Yusuf is largely responsible for this appreciable peace, tranquility and oder in the port.
For another agent, Chief Bright Ekekwe, the method applied by the the DC is making sure that his officers are there physical at the examination spot and he ever present to attend to every document on his table.
DC Yusuf has made visiting the terminal at odd hours to see how the terminal operator are complying a hobby. He, some times moves around the port with his patrol team.
This method, DC Yusuf revealed, has brought member of the public closer to Customs and with it, understanding and synergy in line with the detect of Customs operations.
Speaking further, Bright applauded the leadership of DC Yusuf whom he described as disciplined, informed and committed to creating a good and orderly society.
Also speaking, some leaders of the freight forwarders, who pleaded to remain anonymous, said that if these decent crop of Customs officer in Apapa port are replicated in other parts of the country, one can be sure of having a better Nigeria.
