Families Flee As Boko Haram Attack Borno Community over Western Education

The notorious Islamic sect, Boko Haram struck again last week as they attacked Dawaki Community in Maiduguri local government Area of Borno State, burning many houses and displaced many dwellers of the community.
Members of the islamic sect, it was gathered, attacked the community after they got information that some people are spreading western culture and ideas in the community, a development they considered forbidden to their beliefs.
Our correspondent gathered that one Mr. Gaius Osakponmwen Iyase who was a graduate of Theatre and Media Art of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Edo State together with recruits have been teaching and educating many people in the community, majorly on western ideologies.
Sources told our correspondent that Mr Iyase, whose father was an indigene of Benin and mother from Maiduguri had established Yorkland Entertainment firm in Benin, Edo State which aimed at socializing, educating and promoting Western ideology in the hither land local communities in Nigeria through learning of acting skills, drama, comic and satirical miming, embracing Western believe and preaching Christian religion.
It was gathered that Mr Iyase relocated to Dawaki Community in Maiduguri Local Government Area following an incessant cult members indiscriminate killings in Edo State, targeting young vibrant youth sometimes in 2019.
While at Dawaki Community in Maiduguri Local Government, sources said Mr. Iyase continued to educate and socialise people in the community, especially the youths, a move it was believed has begun to spread to every household not just in Dawaki Community but other neighboring communities like Dikwa and Gwoza.
An Islamic chieftain in the community who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that members of Boko Haram consider such development as forbidding, hence they attacked the community at night last week.
The sect burnt several houses, with the aim of eliminating the promoters of the ideas and such Western culture in the community which they considered to be their stronghold in the northern part of the country.
According to the Islamic chieftain, when Boko Haram attacked Dawaki community on the fateful night, they were searching for those that were promoting Western ideas, burning houses and shooting sporadically.
The source added the Islamic sect were shouting ‘Gaius Haram’, which means Gaius- the original promoter of the western idea is forbidden.
The Islamic chieftain confirmed to our correspondent that the family house of Gaius was burnt down alongside many other houses across the community though every member of the Giaus family managed to escape and fled to IDP camps.
There is however fears that the sect will return for further attack just to ensure that the promoters of the western idea never live to continue with their propagation.
