Compt. Shuaibu Fashions Out New Approach to Security Matters at Idiroko Border

Meet security agencies in Benin, community chiefs, youths

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Ogun 1 Area Command let by Customs Area Controller, Compt A. B. Shuaibu recently held an inter-agency stakeholders security meeting to fashion new approach to security matters at Idiroko border.

The security forum led by Compt Shuaibu met with its security counterparts in the Republic of Benin, Idiroko community chiefs, and the youths. The meeting also involved the Secretary General of Inter-Border Security Forum, Dr Bonny A Botoku, who acted as an intermediary between the two countries.

According to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Supreteindent of Customs Hameed Oloyede, the meeting addressed issues that poised as a problem to the cooperation and peace enjoyed by the security agencies of both countries.

Oloyede noted in the statement that the meeting ended with peaceful resolutions that the community Chiefs and the youth leaders are to return to their people and educate them on motorcycle regulations and traffic laws being enforced by the Republic

Other resolutions reached, according to oloyeye, include agreement by the security agencies at Idiroko border to assist in enforcing Benin traffic laws by restricting the movement of traffic offenders crossing over to the Republic of Benin; as well as the prohibition of Idiroko youths against jungle justice and enjoining them to report any suspected civil case to the Nigerian Police, Idiroko Divisional Office or any other.
