Boko Haram hits Yakshari; other Borno villages, kidnaps, kills scores, burns houses, churches, schools

For people in Yakshari and other neighboring villages in Maiduguri, Borno state, this is not a good time as the Islamic sect, Boko haram attacked the villages last week on February 12, 2016, killing many people and also kidnapping others.
It was gathered that the deadly sect specifically killed many people in Yakshari village including the son of the village head as well as a 74 old man identified as Oke Olalere Gabriel among others.
Our correspondent added that Boko haram also burnt many houses, churches, and schools in the village.

Those missing and suspected to have been kidnapped include the son of the village, one Olalere Timothy who is known to be a driver, and his two sisters identified as Olalere Jumoke who was said to be 35 years old, and Olalere Joy, who was 30 years old, among others.
Our correspondent gathered that the Olaleres were strangers who had run to Yakshari village from Modakeke in Osun State South West Nigeria for safety as a result of the war that broke out between Ife and Modakeke between 1996 and 1997.
It was gathered that the Islamic sect stormed the village on the fateful day and wreaked havoc and took some of the kidnapped victims away into the desert before the arrival of troops to the village.
While many houses have already been burnt down in Yakshari and the neighboring villages, other residents who were lucky to have escaped from being kidnapped are yet to return to the village.
