Man arraigned for adulterating MFM’s anniversary cloth

The police on Monday arraigned one Egwuonwu David, 35, before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly adulterating the clothing material meant for the 30th year anniversary of Mountain Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Lagos..

David was said to have committed the offense with others now at Large, between December 2019 and January 30, 2020, at the Church’s headquarters, 1 and 3, Olasimbo Street, Onike, Iwaya, Lagos.

The prosecutor in charge of the case, Morufu Animashaun, who is the Legal Officer of Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (ForceCIID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos   told the court that the defendant also unlawfully dealt in the selling of the Church’s anniversary clothes material without authority from the church.

Animashaun also told the court that the defendant obstructed the police officers who were on official duty to arrest him on January 30, 2020, at Etche Road Shopping Complex, Aba, Abia State, after the matter was reported to the police.

Animashaun said the offenses are punishable under sections 411, 160(b) and 117 of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015. David however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Osin, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum N500, 000, 00 with two sureties who must also be residents of Lagos State and with three years tax payable to Lagos State government, means of livelihood.

The matter has been adjourned till March 19, 2020, for mention, while the defendant will be remanded in the custody of NCS pending the fulfillment of his bail terms.
