Man seeks police protection over life threat from suspected oil bunkers

A man identified as Richard Oseiwo Ebhohimen has raised the alarm over an incessant threat to his life and that of his family members by suspected bunkers and operators of illegal modular refinery in the South-South region, the oil producing section of Nigeria.
Ebhohimen who resides in Benin City, Edo State is calling for protection from the security operatives and at the same time urging the police to immediately hunt for and arrest the oil bunker suspects and operators of illegal modular refineries that have been threatening his life and also attacking members of his family.
Our correspondent gathered that Ebhohimen was one of the locals engaged for pipeline surveillance and to locate and provide useful information pertaining to site of illegal modular refineries in the oil rich region.
It was gathered that his effort and that of other people engaged for the purpose has yielded result and enhanced discovery of bunkers hideouts and oil theft in the region.
Sources told our correspondent that some of the suspected oil bunkers and operators of illegal modular refineries in the region have fingered Ebhohimen to be the prime person that gave the security operatives information about their operation and hideouts. Hence, they have started hunting for him and members of his family and also threatening to kill him.
According to reports, Ebhohimen and his wife have been attacked several times where they narrowly escaped assignation attempt. A security operative officer in Benin City who pleaded anonymity said security operatives have started investigations on the matter but Ebhohimen and his wife have been advised to find a safe place to stay so as to avoid being attacked by the assailants while investigation is ongoing.
