Implicated mechanic flee after armed robbers hijack test-driving vehicle to attack, kill soldier

A mechanic in Benin, identified as Odion Idahosa may have run away to unknown destination, after some suspected masked armed robbers hijacked a vehicle he was test driving and used it to attacked army patrol van, killing one soldier in the process.

Trouble started for Odion Idahosa on August 24, 2023, when a customer took his vehicle to his boss workshop for repair and after the repair, his boss asked him to test drive the vehicle.

It was gathered that Idahosa was still test driving the vehicle when some suspected masked armed robbers accosted him on gun point and hijacked the vehicle at 2nd junction, Sapele Road, Benin city, Edo State, at about 1:30

It was gathered that the suspected armed robbers asked him to drive on instruction at gun point until they sighted an army patrol van and opened fire on the officers.

Our correspondent gathered that three soldiers were in the military vehicle, heading towards Ikpoba-hill axis of the Benin metropolis when the suspected masked armed robbers attacked and opened fire on them.

In the process, one of the soldiers died while the rest run away, sources said

It was gathered that the masked armed robbers carted away bags suspected to be full of money and drove off from the scene.

According to sources, after they were done attacking the soldiers, they asked Idahosa to keep driving the vehicle over a long distance, until they get to a certain spot and asked him to get down from the vehicle after which they drove away leaving him in the middle of nowhere.

According to sources, security operatives, after frantic efforts, traced the vehicle to Idahosa’s boss workshop and the boss narrated Idahosa ordeal to them, how the suspected masked armed robbers hijacked the test driving vehicle to attack the soldiers.

It was gathered that Idahosa boss told the security operatives that he doesn’t know the whereabouts of his Idahosa after the incident and in view of that, the security operative arrested him, insisting that he must provide Idahosa.

Although the search for the implicated Idahosa continues across the length and breadth of Nigeria, no one knows his whereabouts as of press time.
