Okuama: Army declare suspects wanted in connection with attack against personnel, as others flee community.

The crisis that rocked Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta state, South-South Nigeria, may have left many families homeless and many residents displaced as uncertainty has continued to cover the community.

Recalled the Nigerian Army said on March 16 that 16 military personnel were killed while on a peace mission to two warring communities in Delta State. The military authority said the personnel were ambushed and killed by youths while responding to a distress call during a communal clash between Okuama and Okoloba communities on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

Following the killing of the officers, there was reinforcement and reprisal attack on the community which led to killing of many people, a development that the military authority has since denied.

Meanwhile, during the reprisal attack, an unidentified number of people were killed, houses burnt and many families were rendered homeless. Many residents were also displaced in the process.

An eyewitness, who is also a leader of the community, who doesn’t want his name mention told newsmen that the soldiers killed several people, adding that houses were burnt and many people homeless and family displaced.

Meanwhile, the army has declared some residents and non-residents of the community wanted in connection with the attack and killing.

Those declared wanted include Akevwru Daniel Omotegbono, Prof Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakriki, Ojie Goodluck Ambrose, Igoli Ebi (female), Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe and Reuben Baru among others.

The Nigerian Army disclosed this on its official X account on Thursday March 28, 2024. They were all accused of having hands in the attack against the military personnel, however, they have all escaped from the community and it’s environ
