June 12: Ogunlade states commitment to Inclusive Democracy, People-Driven Representation in Ibarapa East

By Ranmilowo Ojalumo     -As Nigerians commemorate Democracy Day, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Oyo State House of Assembly election in Ibarapa East Constituency, Hon. Babatunde Ogunlade, has reaffirmed his commitment to providing inclusive leadership, effective representation, and people-oriented service to the residents of the constituency.

In a Democracy Day message issued on Friday, Ogunlade described June 12 as a historic reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigerians in the struggle for democratic governance and the need for leaders at all levels to remain accountable to the people.

June 12 is observed nationwide as Democracy Day in honour of Nigeria’s democratic journey and the ideals of representative governance.

The APC flag bearer said his aspiration to represent Ibarapa East in the Oyo State House of Assembly is rooted in a desire to bring governance closer to the people and ensure that every segment of the constituency has a voice in decision-making.

According to him, democracy can only thrive when elected representatives maintain close contact with their constituents and respond to their needs and aspirations.

“On this special occasion of Democracy Day, I celebrate the resilient people of Ibarapa East Constituency and all Nigerians who continue to believe in the democratic process despite numerous challenges. Democracy is about the people, and leadership must always be centered on their welfare and development,” he said.

Ogunlade pledged to operate an open-door policy if elected, assuring residents that he would remain accessible and accountable throughout his tenure.

“I am committed to building an inclusive constituency where everyone has a sense of belonging. My vision is to provide quality representation that reflects the yearnings of our people, irrespective of age, gender, political affiliation, or social status.

“I will be a representative who is always with the people, listens to their concerns, and works tirelessly to attract meaningful development to our communities. The days of distant representation must give way to responsive and participatory leadership,” he stated.

The APC candidate further promised to champion initiatives that would empower youths, support women, improve access to education and healthcare, and facilitate infrastructure development across the constituency.

He urged residents of Ibarapa East to continue supporting democratic institutions and to actively participate in the process of governance, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort.

Ogunlade also paid tribute to the heroes of Nigeria’s democratic struggle, noting that their sacrifices should inspire present and future leaders to uphold the principles of justice, accountability, transparency, and service to the people.

“As we celebrate Democracy Day, let us renew our commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous, and united Ibarapa East. Together, we can create a future that offers greater opportunities for our youths, improved living standards for our people, and sustainable development for our communities,” he sdded.

He expressed optimism that with unity, cooperation, and purposeful leadership, Ibarapa East would witness unprecedented progress in the years ahead.
