Lagos First Lady Visits Vision Spring Initiatives, Champions Advocacy for Women, Girls, Less-Privileged

By Ranmilowo Ojalumo -The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, recently paid an unscheduled visit to Vision Spring Initiatives, an organisation at the forefront of advocacy for women, girls and other less-privileged groups affected by gender-based violence and social inequality.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu was moved to visit the organisation after learning about its grassroots work and the impact of its interventions on vulnerable women and girls across Lagos State and beyond.
During the visit, the First Lady and her team were taken through Vision Spring Initiatives’ programmes, including its safe-space initiatives and community-based projects aimed at empowering women and girls with practical tools for self-development, confidence-building and civic voice.
Management of the organisation said the engagement highlighted the daily realities faced by women and girls from disadvantaged backgrounds, including exposure to violence, abuse and limited access to opportunities, and underscored the need for stronger protection and inclusive policies.
According to Vision Spring Initiatives, Dr. Sanwo-Olu’s visit reinforced the message that addressing gender-based violence and inequality requires deliberate support for organisations working directly with the less privileged at the community level.
The organisation noted that the visit came at a significant time, aligning with ongoing advocacy to end violence against women and girls and promote a society where all women, regardless of background, can live in safety and dignity.
Vision Spring Initiatives expressed gratitude to the First Lady for recognising its work, describing the visit as an encouragement and a powerful affirmation that the voices of vulnerable women and girls matter in shaping a more just and inclusive Lagos State.
Vision Spring Initiatives is a Lagos-based non-governmental organisation committed to the empowerment of women and girls, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The organisation implements a range of programmes aimed at providing safe spaces, life skills, mentorship, and advocacy platforms that enable women and girls to develop confidence, leadership skills, and the capacity to speak out against violence and social injustice.
Through its work, Vision Spring Initiatives seeks to create a society where vulnerable populations can access opportunities, exercise their rights, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
