The political games in Edo state took another twist recently when an unknown gun men allegedly stormed the house of a top member of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Momodu Abudu Michael and shot him dead.
Michael, it was gathered, was formerly a top member of the ruling Party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) before he defect to PDP following an alleged dispute with some members of the party.
Source said Michael attended a party meeting on Saturday December 29, 2018 and returned home around 7:00 PM after which his wife, Josephine Momodu served him meal which he ate with his only son, Momodu Johnbull Ojememen
According to the source, after eating, there was no power supply, hence he decided to sit outside within his compound but the unknown gun men allegedly jumped the fence into the compound and shot him dead and immediately jumped out again and ran away.
“After the meal, Mr momodu Abudu Michael took out his chair and sat outside within the compound. While he sat outside, around 8:00 P.M it was thereafter that some boys came and jumped over the fence into his compound and shots him dead and the boys ran away, by the time people gathered for help, he was already dead”, a source told newsmen.
As of the time of writing this report, the perpetrator of the evil act has not been unraveled. Sources have however said his death may be connected to his political crisis.
Sources said his former party discussed and agreed to give him a key post in the party but when the party refused to fulfil the promise, he moved to another party. But the former party considered his defection as a big threat to them.
Although Michael may have been killed, sources said his immediate family members are not at rest since his death, a development that has made the wife and the son of the late politician to relocate to different locations.
Sources also said the assailant were threating and trailing the deceased’s only son, Momodu Johnbull Ojememen, who it was gathered, was a former football player with Insurance Football Club of Benin, on the ground that he may have some secretes about the development since he was the only son of his father and his father also loves him.
As of the time of this report, sources said Ojememen may have relocated to unknown destination to save his life as no one has set eyes on him for sometimes now.
