Barr. Okey Ozumba, Dr. IK Ogbonna Emerge IMSU Alumni Association BoT Chairman, Secretary

By Ranmilowo Ojalumo.    -Barrister Okechukwu Ozumba has emerged as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Imo State University (IMSU) Alumni Association, while Dr. Ikechukwu Ogbonna was elected Secretary following the inauguration of a new 11-member board.

The election took place during the inaugural virtual meeting of the newly constituted Board of Trustees on Sunday, July 12, 2026, after members were approved at the Association’s Online Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The AGM approved the nomination of the 11-member Board by the National Executive Committee (NEC) ahead of the expiration of the tenure of the Barrister Chinwe Mbakwem-led Board of Trustees.

Other members of the new Board are Barrister Clovis Okererke, Ben Alaribe, Princess Chyka Ukaga, Zephaniah Uche Nwanochie, Ekwerike Anozie, Hon. Ebitei Tonyon, John Ogbuji, Dr. Rosemary Annie Oputa and Lord Richard Amaihe.

In a notification signed by the Board Secretary, Dr. Ogbonna, the newly inaugurated Board informed the National Executive Committee of its assumption of full responsibilities from Tuesday, July 14, 2026, following the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Board. The Board also sought the cooperation of the NEC to ensure the continued growth and progress of the association.

Meanwhile, the National President of the IMSU Alumni Association, Dr. Charles Nwosu, on behalf of the National Executive Committee and members of the association, congratulated the newly inaugurated Board and its leadership.

Dr. Nwosu expressed confidence in the ability of the Chairman, Secretary and other members of the Board to provide effective leadership, noting that their nominations were carefully considered.

He wished the new Board a successful and productive tenure as it assumes responsibility for the affairs of the association.
