Independence Anniversary: FG Promises to end insecurity
…declares Tuesday Oct. 1st public holiday

As the country gets set to celebrate her 59th independent anniversary, the Federal government has reiterated her commitment to end the high spate of insecurity across the country.
Ahead of the nation’s independent day celebration, the federal government has declared Tuesday, October 1st as public holiday.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday. The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola made the declaration on behalf of the federal government on Wednesday.
The Minister in the statement assured Nigerians home and abroad of government’s commitment to end the high spate of insecurity in the country, stating that peace and stability are necessary conditions for the development of any nation.
He therefore called on Nigerians to emulate the nation’s founding fathers in their love for the country, stressing that Nigeria is a great country endowed with immense potentials.
“As Nigerians, we should always remember that there is hope for our country and that we are blessed with both human and natural resources, tourism, cultural diversity, selfless spirit of unity and love for one another, as well as bonded brotherhood, all of which are potentials we must exploit in the years ahead to make Nigeria the nation of our dreams,” Aregbesola said even as he wished all Nigerians a happy Independence Anniversary.
