ANCLA inaugurates taskforce team

Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has inaugurated Zonal Taskforce Committee with the aim of exposing corrupt practices going on in the ports.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Vice President of the association, Dr. Kayode Farinto reiterated that the Zonal taskforce was long overdue, adding that even though it appears the association took long time before setting up the taskforce, the committee would meet up with its mandate.
Farinto averred that that the taskforce was inaugurated to solve the association’s member’s problem and not to be in confrontation with government agencies.
According to the association’s West Zonal Coordinator, Dr John Ofobike, the Zonal taskforce is to mediate and report all irregularities to the appropriate quarters. Ofobike noted that most of the corrupt practices going on at the part is unknown to the port management, hence there is the need to put a stop to it, stressing that the various irregularities at the port is killing businesses.
“We have road blocks everywhere. From Apapa port to Area B’ is less than few meters but there are two Customs checkpoints mounted with their Hilux, causing serious traffic of movements of cars and cargoes. We always get these reports, with the threat of taking you to Ikeja if you don’t play ball as demanded”, Ofobike said
The West Zonal coordinator however posited that the taskforce is expected to expose agents, corrupt officers and overzealous security agencies even as he charged the team not to see the role as an avenue to attack anybody or be violent.
