Danger alert for motorists, truckers, agents, importers, to whom it may concern
For truckers transacting business in and around Lagos, there is urgent need to be careful while plying Lagos Abeokuta Express way; this is because a certain portion of the road has become a black spot for articulated trucks, especially the loaded ones.
The most notorious spot on the road, as of the time of filling this report, is Obadeyi Bus Stop, after Ijaye Bus stop, inward Abule –Egba.
The Fcatual Newspaper findings show that in the last two or three months, there is no week that truck doesn’t fall on the spot. Sometimes, at least one truck falls every three days.
As of the time of this report (monday August 31), a cream colour fallen loaded container is lying in the middle of the road at Obadeyi bus stop, having spent over two weeks on the spot.
Although the truck that conveyed the container to the spot was recovered from the road about three days after the incident, one however wonder why the owner of the container has not evacuated it till now.
The portion of the road at the bus stop has been dilapidated such that it has become unusable for containerized trucks and every other articulated loaded vehicle. And every heavy duty vehicles is much likely to fall at the spot unless the driver has familiarized himself with the place to know how to maneuver.
while the container is still lying on the road, on Saturday, a truck belonging to a bolting company and fell on the spot with many drinks in green bottles got broken on the road.
Truck and articulated vehicle drivers should therefore plan their movement and avoid the spot as much as possible unless there are no alternative roads.
